One Point Perspective Basic Terminology

Observer Point or Station Point: where the person stands or sits to set the scene for the drawing.
Cone of Vision: the angle that includes the person’s point of view. It is usually about 60° (can be a little less or a little more). The important elements of the drawing should be included in this cone.
Picture Plane: the two-dimensional flat surface that the person sees through
Ground Line: used as a measure with the picture plane
Horizon Line: parallel to the ground line, used as a measuring device; the vanishing points are located on this line
Vanishing Point(s):
the point(s) at which all parallel lines meet
